What is the conversion algorithm applicable in Round 3?
ST(PwD)→ST, SC(PwD)→SC, UR(PwD)→UR, OBC(PwD)→OBC, ST→SC, SC→UR, EWS→UR, NRI/Jain Minority/Muslim Minority→UR.
What happens if I join a seat in Round 3?
Once joined in Round 3, you cannot upgrade or resign from that seat. If you do not join, you exit with forfeiture of security deposit and cannot participate in further rounds.
What happens to data of candidates who joined in Round 3 of AIQ?
MCC shares this data with all participating States. States will weed out these candidates before processing Round 3 of state counselling.
Who can participate in Stray Vacancy Round?
Candidates not holding any seat and who did not participate in Round 1, 2, or 3 of AIQ, State, or Deemed counselling.
Can candidates who were allotted in Round 3 but did not join participate in Stray Vacancy Round?
No, they cannot participate.
What happens if I am allotted a seat in Stray Vacancy Round but do not join?
Security deposit will be forfeited.
Does MCC conduct Stray Vacancy Round for Deemed Universities?
Yes. As per Hon’ble Supreme Court order dated 12.12.2022, MCC conducts Stray Vacancy Round for 100% seats of Deemed Universities.
Are choices filled during Round 3 considered for Stray Vacancy Round?
No. Fresh registrations and fresh choice filling for Stray Vacancy Round. Choices from Round 3 are not considered.

What does MCC upload initially in every round?
MCC uploads a provisional result initially for verification by candidates/colleges based on choices, merit, and eligibility. Candidates can report discrepancies. Provisional result is only indicative and subject to change.
When should I book travel after result declaration?
Candidates should not book tickets after provisional result. Wait for final allotment letter to be issued by MCC.
Is the allotment made by MCC final?
No. Allotment is purely provisional subject to physical verification of documents by the allotted college/institute authorities.
What original documents are required at the time of joining the allotted college?
Allotment letter (MCC), NBE admit card, NBE result/rank letter, MBBS mark sheets (all profs), MBBS degree/provisional certificate, internship completion certificate (by notified date), permanent/provisional MCI/NMC registration, proof of date of birth (High School/Birth Certificate), and a valid ID proof (PAN/Driving License/Voter ID/Passport/Aadhaar).
What category certificates must I bring if applicable?
SC/ST certificate (with sub-caste), EWS certificate (as per Central norms, income based on financial year ending March 31, 2026), OBC-NCL certificate (sub-caste matching Central list, non-creamy layer), PwD disability certificate from designated MCC disability centre (online mode, 21 benchmark disabilities), NRI/OCI documents.
What happens if I do not have original certificates at the time of admission?
You shall not be allowed to take admission. Also, if your original certificates are deposited elsewhere, you cannot take admission.
What are the registration and security deposit fees for AIQ for UR/EWS candidates?
Non-refundable: Rs. 1000/-; Refundable Security Deposit: Rs. 25,000/-.
What are the fees for AIQ for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates?
Non-refundable: Rs. 500/-; Refundable Security Deposit: Rs. 10,000/-.
What are the fees for Deemed Universities for all candidates?
Non-refundable: Rs. 5000/-; Refundable Security Deposit: Rs. 2,00,000/-.
If I apply for both AIQ and Deemed University, how much fee do I pay?
Only the higher fee i.e., Deemed University fee of Rs. 5000/- + Rs. 2,00,000/- security deposit.
When is the refundable security deposit forfeited?
If allotted a seat in Round 2 or subsequent rounds (Round 3, Stray) and do not report/join, or if admission is cancelled due to wrong information or failure to produce required documents.
Do I need to get a PwD disability certificate from any hospital?
No. Only from designated Disability Centres (Annexure-2) in online mode. Certificate from any other hospital/board will not be accepted. Only candidates with online disability certificate can fill PwD choices.
Is there any restriction on number of choices I can fill?
No, you can fill as many choices as you wish, but in order of preference. It is advisable to fill 30-40 choices.
Is it necessary to lock my choices?
Yes. Choices must be locked during choice locking period. If not locked, they are automatically locked at the notified date/time. Once locked, choices cannot be changed or modified.
If I do not report to my Round 1 allotted seat, can I participate in Round 2?
Yes. Not reporting in Round 1 is considered ‘Free Exit’ (available only in Round 1). You can participate in Round 2 with your earlier registration details.
How do I retain my Round 1 seat and also get upgraded in Round 2?
Join the Round 1 seat, complete admission formalities, and give willingness for upgradation at the college.
If I am upgraded in Round 2, what happens to my Round 1 seat?
It is automatically cancelled and allotted to someone else. You must join the Round 2 seat. If you do not join, your security deposit is forfeited.
If I give willingness for upgradation in Round 2 but later want to continue in my Round 1 seat, what should I do?
Do not fill any fresh choices for Round 2. Your earlier seat will be retained.

ST(PwD)→ST, SC(PwD)→SC, UR(PwD)→UR, OBC(PwD)→OBC, ST→SC, SC→UR, EWS→UR, NRI/Muslim Minority/Jain Minority→UR.
Who is eligible for Round 3 counselling?
Candidates registering for the first time, candidates registered but not allotted in Round 1 & 2, and candidates who exited with forfeiture in Round 2 (with fresh payment of fees).
Who is NOT eligible for Round 3 counselling?
Candidates holding any seat in Round 1 or Round 2 of AIQ who have not given willingness to upgrade in Round 3.
Do I need to fill fresh choices in each round?
Yes, fresh choice filling must be done in every round of counselling.
Is counselling conducted for 50% Institutional Quota seats of Central Universities?
Yes, for DU, AMU, BHU, VMMC & SJH, ABVIMS & RML, and ESIC-Basaidarapur. Rules of Central Universities apply. MCC only does allotment.
Is up-gradation allowed from Round 2 to Round 3 for Deemed/Central Universities/DNB?
Yes, upgradation is allowed.
Will my security deposit be refunded if I am not allotted any seat in any round?
Yes, security deposit will be refunded to the same account from which payment was made.
Who is eligible for Stray Vacancy Round?
Fresh registration candidates who did not register in Rounds 1,2,3, and all registered candidates not allotted any seat in previous rounds.
Can I do fresh registration in Stray Vacancy Round if I never registered before?
Yes, fresh registration can be done during Stray Vacancy Round with payment of fees.
What is “Exit with Forfeiture”?
If allotted a seat in Round 2 or further round and you do not report to college, you may exit with forfeiture (security deposit not refunded). Applies only in rounds beyond Round 1.
Are NRI category candidates eligible for paid Deemed University seats?
Yes. Seats are allotted in order of merit, preference, and choices filled.
What are the helpline numbers for PG Counselling?

When will the security deposit be refunded?
Only after completion of all rounds of counselling. MCC notifies completion on portal. Financial Custodian initiates refund within 15 days and completes within 30 days.
To which account will the security deposit be refunded?
Only to the same account/card from which the payment was initially made. Keep that account active till refund completes.
Can I request refund to a different bank account?
No. MCC will not entertain such requests.
What happens if I make more than one payment for the same Roll Number?
Excess payment can be refunded after 10 days of closing of Registration Window. Financial Custodian deducts 50% of Registration Fee or Rs.500 (whichever less) as administrative expenses per excess receipt.
Can I initiate a chargeback claim through my card issuing bank?
No. If you do, MCC/Financial Custodian cannot initiate direct refund. You must withdraw the chargeback claim and get a no-objection certificate from your bank, which causes severe delay.

What details must I include when sending a query to MCC?
