Private MBBS admission through state counselling is a crucial pathway for students aiming to secure a medical seat based on their NEET-UG score. Each state conducts its own counselling process, offering opportunities under government (seat reservation for state candidates), management (including Minority), and NRI quotas in private medical colleges. Eligibility


To participate in private MBBS admission through state counselling, candidates must first qualify the NEET-UG. Students should have completed their 10+2 education with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology as core subjects.

State Counselling Process


Private MBBS admissions are conducted by each state authorities for respective states, So candidates must apply individually to every state they are interested in. States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra, Pondicherry and Haryana offer a significant number of private medical seats which offer seats to all candidates including other state candidates, making them important choices for applicants. Applying to multiple states increases the chances of securing a seat.

The counselling process begins with registration on the respective state counselling website, where candidates must fill out the application form and pay the required fee and security deposit. After registration, candidates need to complete document verification, either through online upload or physical verification depending on the state rules. Once verified, they become eligible for choice filling, where they must select and prioritize private medical colleges based on their preferences.

After this, allotment is conducted based on NEET rank, category, choices filled, and seat availability happen Round wise from 1 to 4 (will conduct more rounds incase if seats left after 4th round) conducted.
If a seat is allotted, candidates must download the allotment order or letter and report to the respective college within the given deadline. If not allotted wait for further rounds. Admission is confirmed only after submitting original documents and paying the required tuition fees.

Types of Seats in Private Colleges


Private medical colleges under state counselling offer three main types of seats. Government quota seats have comparatively lower fees but require higher NEET scores and reserved to state domicile candidates.

Management quota seats have higher fees and lower cutoffs, making them accessible to non domicile students also and Minority seats usually having management fee range and which is reserved for domicile candidates with lowest cutoff and based on rules of some states these minority will provide low preference to other state candidates.

NRI quota seats have the highest fee structure among the colleges other seats fees but the lowest cutoff, and they require valid NRI-related documentation from candidates, and its not usually required domicile expectation in most of the states.

Expected Score Range

The chances of securing a seat vary based on NEET score. Candidates scoring above 500 marks have a good chance of obtaining government quota seats in private colleges. Those with scores between 300 to 500 can target management quota seats and 300 to 400 marks can get Minority seats, while students scoring between 150 and 300 may still have opportunities under NRI quota.

Fee Structure


The fee structure in private medical colleges varies depending on the type of quota. Government quota fees generally range from 4 lakhs to 6 lakhs per year, making them relatively affordable. Management quota and Minority quota fees are higher, typically between 8 lakhs and 18 lakhs per year. NRI quota seats are the most expensive, with annual fees ranging from 20 lakhs to 50 lakhs or more, depending on the college.
