1. Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune
Established in 1962 and affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, AFMC is a premier government institute that blends medical education with military discipline.
Admission Process
The selection process for AFMC is distinct from regular government medical colleges:
- *Candidates must apply via the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee) website.
- *Candidates must specifically opt for “AFMS Colleges” during registration and select AFMC Pune during choice filling.
- *Based on NEET ranks, candidates are shortlisted for a second stage at Pune.
- *Secondary Assessment: Shortlisted students undergo the ToELR (Test of English, Logic & Reasoning), followed by a psychological assessment, interview, and a rigorous medical examination.
- *The final rank is calculated based on a weighted combination of NEET scores, ToELR marks, and interview performance.
The Service Bond
Joining AFMC is a commitment to the nation:
Service: Graduates must serve as Commissioned Medical Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services for 7 years.
Penalty: If a candidate breaches the bond, a penalty of approximately ₹69 lakhs is applicable.
2. Army College of Medical Sciences (ACMS), New Delhi
Founded in 2008 and affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), ACMS is a private institution specifically designed to support the families of army personnel.
