Tver State Medical University was founded in 1936. For more than 70 years TSMU has been playing the leading role in the development of medical sciences and training of medical and scientific personnel. During the whole period of its history, the main goal of the university has been training the specialist‘s high qualifications, having fundamental theoretical knowledge and practical skills in their specialties. The principal mission of this university is to preserve, develop and disseminate its cherished values. According to the WHO international rating, Tver State Medical University takes 23rd place in the world and 3rd position in Russia in Medical Studies. In this Medical University is a home for 4700 students simultaneously, every third student in the university is a foreign national. The Tver State Medical University is officially recognized by the UN agencies for health care and education. This university has trained medical specialists for foreign countries since 1962.     Hostel

    The university has 4 hostels with 1,544 places. The University mainly offers residential accommodation in hostels for foreign students entering the territory of the Russian Federation of countries with a visa regime and at the invitation of the University. At the time of settlement, an accommodation lease is completed for the entire study period. Separate hostels for male and female students. The University has 2 residential-type hostels. There are one-bedroom apartments for 3 students and two-bedroom apartments for 5 students. The apartments are equipped with a sanitary unit, bathroom, and kitchen. The hostels have elevators and wireless internet. The entrance to the hostel is guarded. There is a passport system. There are video cameras at the entrance and corridors.     Tver State Medical University is affiliated with more than one teaching hospital and has 6,000 beds in several hospitals. The Faculty of Paediatrics was established in 1990. More than 300 instructors from 45 departments provide training to 600 students in the college. It covers all 7 major hospitals and 5 maternity hospitals, Tver District Hospital. Faculty university hospital departments are located in the regional hospital, 4 municipal hospitals, and 2 municipal polyclinics in Tver. Maternity wards, child health centers, and infectious disease departments are also used in general hospitals. Training is provided in 9 clinical disciplines (hospital therapy, hospital surgery, trauma and orthopedics, endocrinology, pediatric dentistry, radiology, preventive medicine, clinical biochemistry, dermatology, and STDs) in the Academy’s newly built clinic. TSMA staff work in partnership with the regional adolescent medical center, the regional medical genetics service, and the regional neonatal center. The pediatrician degree allows faculty graduates to work as a general pediatrician, neurologist, or pediatric surgeon. The diploma provides access to a wide range of postgraduate training courses.
