• The Deccan College of Medical Sciences (DCMS) is one of the oldest, started in 1984 by Aljhaj Sultan Salahuddin Owaisi who was a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
• It is the first medical college for Muslim minorities in India, and the first non-segregated medical college in Andhra Pradesh. Two hospitals fell under the administration, DCMS-Owaisi Hospital and Princess Esra Hospital.
