• JIPMER second campus in Karaikal was launched following an announcement by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in New Delhi.
• The Pondicherry government converted 41 acres of land at Kovilpattu in Karaikal to set up an educational campus and a multi-specialty hospital; 38 acres of land in Kamaraj Salai for residential premises; There are PWD buildings on the royal campus and the ANM College building at Kovilpattu to establish the Intermediate Education Campus.
• The first MBBS module of 50 students joined in July 2016 at Karaikal JIPMER.
  The Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Pondicherry Dr.Kiran Bedi and the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Pondicherry Shri V.
• Narayanasamy inaugurated the Government Complex at Jimper Karaikal on December 15, 2016.
  The renovated Kalam campus opened on March 29, 2017.

• JIPMER Karaikal has two campuses.The Smart Classroom on the Arasalar campus has video conferencing facilities.JIPMER Karaikal opened it in 2016.
• Currently, the Karaikal campus has 17 academic departments that provide undergraduate (UG) training through a working hospital (Karaikal General Hospital) with 500 beds.
• Library – JIPMER has more than 75,000 books, magazines, and a computer lab.
• JIPMER was established in 1957 in the former Medical College buildings in Pondicherry.
• It was moved to JIPMER, Banting Hall in 1964.
• The Central Library was finally moved to its current central air-conditioned building and continued to operate from 12 January 1973.
• The Central Library, JIPMER Karaikal was established in 2016 at APJ Abdul Kalam Campus, and Digital E-Library is located at Arasalar Campus.
• There are 551 books in the publishing section and 466 books in the reference section.
• Upcoming conferences, workshops, seminars, competition leaflets, and circulars are displayed on the Central Library’s notice board for user information.
• The central library has a conference hall and computer lab with 25 computer terminals.
• The JIPMER, Karaikal Central Library has access to all the digital content like various e-books, MYLOFT, e-journals, software like uptodate, Clinical key available at The Central library JIPMER Puducherry.
• Seminar Hall – The central library has a conference hall and computer lab with 31 computer terminals.
• The conference hall of the Central Library has state-of-the-art audiovisual services including LCD projectors and sound systems, as well as training programs, orientation programs, seminars, conferences, and BSc MLT, students, and other UG for other disciplines and PG students.

Hostel

• The JIPMER Hostel is located in the Karaikal Vatheru Housing Board flat.
• It has a total of 8 blocks with 204 rooms, of which 6 MIG blocks are 24 students at each dormitory and 2 LIG blocks are 36 student dormitories at each.
• A total of 59 girls hostels and a total of 81 boys hostels.
• A common mess that can eat 150 people at the same time.7 chefs posted to provide good healthy food to students.
• There are a total of 18 security guards and 6 lady security guards in each constituency 24 * 7 and also 14 housekeeping staff to maintain the cleanliness of the accommodation.
• Sports and Recreation – JIPMER Karaikal campus provides an indoor table tennis court Badminton court, a volleyball court, tennis court.
• Sports equipment for throwing a ball, basketball, carom, chess, volleyball, yogurt, shuttlecock, cricket, football, and table tennis are provided to stimulate students’ interest in sports.

• The General Hospital of the Government of Pondicherry, located at Karaikal, has been approved by JIPMER for the medical teaching and training of Karaikal students.
  506-beds are available at Karaikal Hospital.
