• Smt.NHL Municipal Medical College was established in 1963 with an annual enrollment capacity of 75, then increased from 2000 to 150.
• The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation is the second municipal corporation to establish its own medical college next to Mumbai.
• The inaugural function was held in 1963, the medical college was innagurated by Mr.Morarji Desai Finance Minister of India under the patronage of the then Health Minister of India Dr.Sushila Nayyar, and the Mayor of Ahmedabad Mr.Jaikrishna Harivallapadas.
• The present campus of the college building was inaugurated in 1975 by the Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court, Shri PJ Diwan.

Infrastructure

• The Central Library building has an area of 4150 square meters as a carpet area with all the requirements.
• There are six reading rooms for students 250 each in four Rooms for UG,150 for PG and 50 for Staff.
• The library is open from 9.00 am to 7.00 pm and the reading room is open from 9.00 am to 12.00 midnight.
  It offers 22148 books that includes 15769 text and 6379 reference books.
• It also provides 105 subscribed journals including 52 Indian magazines and 54 foreign magazines and 8889 number of journals with back volume.
• The library includes audiovisual aids, digital video player, television and photocopy facilities.
• It has a separate air-conditioned room for students and staff and computers with broadband internet access.
• NHLMMC has eight lecture halls well-equipped with Air conditioned, gallery type, advanced audio visual aids and teaching purposes.
• Out of these, the four halls each have a seating capacity of 200 students and the other four Lecture Halls have a seating capacity of 300 students.
• All these 8 halls are used by Medical Colleges and Hospitals.
• These Lecture Halls are also used as seminar rooms.

Hostel

• Honorable Shri Vijaybai Roupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat Hon.Shri Shri Pradipsinh Jadeja, Home Minister and Mayor of Gujarat Smt.Bizalben Patel inaugurated the new building of the Boys Hostel and Girls Hostel on 4 January 2020.
• The college campus provides indoor games like Badminton, Table Tennis, Carom and other games and also Outdoor games like Cricket, Football and Volleyball etc.

• NHL Municipal Medical Colleges has three Affiliated Teaching Hospitals.
• 1.SVPIMSR Hospital which is the main hospital located within the campus.
• 2.Smt.SCL The hospital is located at a distance of 5 km from the college.
• 3.Sheth C.H.Nagri Eye Hospital is located at Saraspur which is a distance of 1 km from the college.
• There are two large general hospitals and two specialty hospitals attached to the nearly 2000-beds for medical training.
• The college now has a new multi-specialty hospital with 1600 beds on 18 floors and a single campus with helipad facility for air ambulance.
• The hospital has 1278 general ward beds, 190 ICU beds, 80 emergency beds, 32 operating theaters, 2 cath labs and 544 resident physician accommodation.
• The hospital has a lush green building and is the first public hospital with EMR and PTS facilities.
