Introduction

Government College of Medicine, Churu was established in 1992 and the institute is affiliated with Rajasthan University of Health Sciences of Jaipur and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). Government College of Medicine, Churu works with the approval of the Medical Council of India / Dental Council of India under the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. The Institute is licensed to offer an MBBS course with an annual intake of 100 students with a course duration of 5.5 years, which includes a year of internship.

Quick Summary

MBBS Course

The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Churu Medical College offers Undergraduate (UG) course of MBBS with annual intake capacity of 150 seats in graduation and filled as 15% seats by AIl India Quota and remaining seats of 85% by State Govt on the basis of inter-state merit of the applications on the basis of marks/percentile in the NEET which is conducted by NTA.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: To get admission for above college shall be 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year is required. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course @ SPMC is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or bio-technology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category)

Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

Governement Medical College Churu Admissions as 15% of seats are selected through All India Quota and remains 85% as filled by State Govt on the basis of inter-state merit of the applications on the basis of marks/percentile in the NEET (UG).

Churu Medical College campus comprises with College and New Hospital complex with spread over area of 37.17 hect. The College campus includes college Main building, admin block, E-Library, E-Classroom, auditorium, indoor courts and gymnasium, Hostel for boys and girls, guest house, Separate faculty and staff accommodation. In Addition, College campus has a separate building for Para-clinical and Non-clinical were running in triple story building and departments which includes Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Microbiology, Pharmacology, Forensic medicine, and Preventive & social medicine.

Facilities

GMC Churu has necessary infrastructure facilities available such as Lecture theatres’ complex, Nursing College, Nursing school, PG students’ hostel, nursing students’ hostel and residential accommodation for staff and faculty members etc. The Examination Hall has total 2nos available one with 150 seating capacity another with 50 capacity. Lecture theatres are 2nos with Gallery type and accomodate 120 capacities each with well equipped.

Hostel

Churu Medical College has Separate Hostel facilities for the students as UG boys have 133 rooms and for Girls 70 rooms. Post Graduate hostel available for both Boys & Girls are 48 rooms available. All the hostel rooms are clean, furnished and having adequate facilities. There is a separate canteen facility for Staff and Students available within a campus.

Library

GMC Churu has a Central library with area covers 686 Sq.mt and Total Seating capacity of 50 nos. The library has well collection books of around 1500 and Journals are 1727 whereas Indians Journals has 14 and foreign has 06 are available. The Library consists of Students reading rooms inside as well as outside with seating capacity of 50 each and also separate staff reading room is available within a library.

D. B. General Hospital

Located on Pankha Road, about one kilometer from the School of Medicine, this is a major hospital affiliated with the School of Medicine, with a capacity of about 300 beds. This is one of the very old hospitals in Rajasthan. Earlier, it was Churu District Hospital under the control of Director of Medical and Health Services, Rajasthan. This hospital is spread over a large campus, and in addition to the hospital building, there are other facilities housed on the campus – central laboratory, blood bank, morgue, CT scan, Post Mortem facility, faculty nursing and housing for staff and teachers, etc.

This hospital is a tertiary care hospital that provides free examinations and treatment to patients connecting patients, Bhamashah Iojna and other free category patients. The main facilities available at the hospital include: – General wards along with well-equipped air-conditioned operating rooms, ICU, ICCU, ambulance, postoperative ward, burn and cottage ward, endoscopy, CT examination, etc …

Churu Government Medical College is situated at Churu city, Northern Indian state of Rajasthan. Churu city is about 250km southwest from the capital city of Jaipur and third most populous city of Rajasthan state.
