MBBS Course

The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Dharmapuri Government Medical College  annually admits 100 students in the medical stream at the undergraduate (UG) level of the MBBS course. The total annual intake seats for UG are divided into AIQ by 15% and state quota at 85%.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category) to study Medical Course.

Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

Admission is based on the NEET-UG pattern and is subject to change. 85% Admission to the State Quota is currently being made by the Selection Committe, Directorate of Medical Education, Chennai in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Admission to 15% of All India Quota is done by DGHS under the Union Government Health & Family Welfare Department.

Dharmapuri Government Medical College library has been functioning in the premises of our Government Dharmapuri Medical College since 2008, is spread over an area of about 580.10 sq meters on the ground floor and the first floor as well. Dharmapuri Government Medical library has 5071 books both of medical books and reference books, being arranged subject wise in their respective racks. We have good seating facilities for the comfort of both the professors and medical students who team here each day.

Indian journals and foreign journals have been arranged in separate rooms. We have a Xerox Machine and computer with Internet Facilities to boost the performance of our readers. Our library functions from 8 am in the morning till 8 pm in the evening. We have a librarian with his team of library staff. Every day, around 100 students and 25 lecturers and professors avail the benefits of our library.

Dharmapuri Government Medical College hostel consists of 4 floors each containing 22 rooms with a capacity of 3 persons in each room. And it has a separate room for Chief Warden on the ground floor. Highly furnished kitchen with a dining hall serving 100 students at a time. Dharmapuri Government Medical College has a separate compound wall and Security personnel is available round the clock for the safety of students.

Then two recreation rooms one on the first floor and other on the second floor with facilities like television, newspapers and Indoor games and it also provided with Computer and Internet facilities. The hostel is provided with safe drinking water (RO System). We have a separate parking place for two-wheelers. Canteen Facilities also available inside the campus itself with hygienic and healthy Foods.

Sports

Dharmapuri Medical College students actively participate in the following sports activities. Indoor Games like Badminton, Carom, Chess and Table Tennis and in Outdoor Games like Cricket, Foot Ball, VolleyBall, Throw Ball and Basket Ball.

Out Patient Services

In Dharmapuri Medical College OPD registration is at the entrance of our hospital campus which is easy access to the public and the registration is free of cost. Patients are guided by our information centre staff to their respective OPs. We have a separate pharmacy wing functioning in our OPD block which functions from 7 am to 1 pm.

The drugs are issued to the patients at free of cost making sure that they have the drug tokens from the respective doctors duly signed by them and the name of the doctor written in the drug slip. The outpatients can do their blood investigations at free of cost at the Central clinical laboratory which is located just opposite to the OP block. They can collect their results on the same day as the investigations.
