• Government Medical College Amritsar, started in 1864 as a Medical School at Lahore (was the capital city of undivided Punjab) and it was later relocated to the holy city of Amritsar in 1920.
• In 1943 the medical school got upgraded status as Medical College.

• 9 Storied Hospital complex(built up area of 30000 square meters).
• It has been built and attached to the college in the year 2012 which consists of Bebe Nanki Mother & Child Care Centre and the Guru Teg Bahadur Diagnostic & Super speciality which is partially funded by Government of India under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY).
