Infrastructure

• The campus is spread over an area of approximately 130-acre and the College building has more than 26,310 sq.m.
• The Medical College Hospital building with OPD has 49,293.
• Moreover Hostel and Residential Complex spread over an area of 74,160 sq.m and the Library were built in the area of 4050 sq.m.
• The layout and the floor area of the library occupy three floors and spread over 2400 square meters.
• The Reading Room has separate reading halls and rooms for undergraduate students with 750 capacity and postgraduate reading room with 200 capacity and the Staff reading room has 50 capacity. There are 20,200 books in total.
• Then, 10,090 magazines with back volume, 805 Dissertation with 58 Indian Journals, and 54 Foreign journals.
• Surat Medical College offers Five lecture theaters with well-equipped, gallery type, and air conditioning for teaching purposes.
• These all are having a seating capacity of 300 students each.
• GMC Surat also has an Examination hall that has a seating capacity of 500 students which is built on an area of 800 square meters and another hall has the capacity for 250 students with 255 sq.m.

• GMC Surat offers 10 different Messes throughout the campus.
• There are a total of accommodations having 1084 capacities for UG students, 150 capacity for Interns, 150 capacity for Interns, 313 for residents including PG students and 130 capacity for nurses.
• It provides residential facilities for teaching staff and non-teaching staff with 96 and 140 capacity.
• Common rooms are built-in 250 sq.m in New building.
• SMC provides good entertainment facilities for student’s extracurricular activities such as music, television, and indoor and outdoor games.

• New civil hospital, Surat was established five decades in 1964 with 300 beds for indigenous patients.
• Gradually, for more than fifty years, it has grown to its current bed capacity of 1150 beds.
• At the current date, the hospital bed capacity is 1230 beds.
