MBBS Course

The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship.
The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Katuri Medical College offers UnderGraduate MBBS Course of 150 seats annually and these are divided as 50% State Quota and remaining 50% for Management and NRI Quota.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category)

Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

Katuri Medical College and Hospital have approximately built in more than 1,05,000 sq Mt. Separate Hostel and residential buildings are situated inside the college campus. College buildings are built in an area of 20,960 sq mt. and separate Hospital buildings are available with OPD block in 72,408 sq mt area. This medical college has three examination halls built in an area of 250 sq mt for each. These are available with comfortable seating arrangements and 250 students seating capacity in each.

Lecture halls and Labs

Katuri Medical College’s Lecture halls are built-in Gallery type. In college building three lecture halls are available, these with a seating capacity of 180 students in each and adequate with audio and video facilities. The hospital building has one Lecture hall built with a seating capacity of 250 students in each and also with all facilities. Here separate common rooms are available for male and female students. Boys common room built with 100 students capacity and girls room with 60 capacity and these are available with attached toilet facilities.


This Medical College has a well-maintained central library. This library built within an area of 3,300 sq mt. Here inside the reading room and outside reading rooms are available, Inside with 200 seating capacity and outside it has 150 students seating capacity. The separate staff room is available with 50 seating capacity and PG students reading room available with 50 seating capacity. This library has a total of 16,083 books and 103 Journals are available as 73 Indian and 30 foreign journals. This central library works from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m.

E-library with available with 40 computers with internet facility and Video CD and other modern aids used to the techniques of education of Medicine. This Library help to contact international institutions and events are in touch with the developments in different branches of medicine and also to access journals through N.T.R.MEDNET consortium.



Katuri medical college Hostel and Residential buildings are located inside the college campus. This hostel and residential complex are built in 10,800 sq.mt. Individual hostel facilities are available for boys and girls. Essential bed, study table, chair and cupboard facilities are provided for each student. UG hostels are providing accommodation facilities for more than 680 students.

Separate PG hostels and Interns hostels are available and these are providing more than 200 accommodation facilities. The residential complex is available for teaching and non-teaching staff. Hygienic canteen, comfortable dining system, and Water cooler facilities are available. Hostels are equipped with a well maintained and air-conditioned study room with computers and internet facilities. Recreation room with television, Music and Indoor Game Facility.


This Medical college has spacious playground facilities for outdoor games, here Volleyball, Tennis, Cricket and Badminton games are available. Indoor games facilities are available with all sorts of facilities. A well-equipped gymnasium is available for students and staff.

Katuri Medical College Hospital was incepted in the year 2000 and built-in more than 72,400 sq mt. This Hospital is a recognized name for inpatient care. It is one of the well-known Hospitals in Guntur and vision to offer the best in patient care and equipped with advanced technology and healthcare facilities. Approximately more than 2100 outpatients are visiting here for treatment. This teaching hospital has 750 beds available in the respective Medical department.

Bed and Operation theatres

General medicine & Surgery have 150 beds in each, Pediatrics, Orthopedic, Obstetrics, and Gynaecology have 90 beds in each, TB & Respiratory Medicine, Psychiatry, Dermatology and ENT department has 30 beds in each and ophthalmology department has 2 units with 60 beds. Laboratories are under the control of the department of pathology and separate laboratory sections are available for Microbiology, Hematology, and Biochemistry.

There are 12 operation theatres are available. 10 has major operation facilities and 2 available with minor operation facilities. The intensive care unit is available with needed facilities. ICCU and ICU have 12 beds in each. SICU with 11 beds, NICU and PICU has 12 beds.

Katuri medical college is situated at Guntur city in Andhrapradesh State. Guntur city is the 24th most densely populated city in the world and 11th in India and a major industrial corridor in the country. The city has a wide Road network as its connected to major destinations by National highways, State highways and district roads.

KMCH is located 21km away from the city center and can reach by Road through local transport like City bus, privately operated auto rickshaws, cabs, mini-buses etc., with the travel duration of 30-45min. Guntur railway station is one of Major Rail juntion in the state and its daily operates MEMU and local trains for the commuting population, including thousands of students, which is located 18km from the college. Vijayawada International Airport is the nearest Airport to Guntur city and distance from the college is 74 km and takes 01:30hours travel to reach the college.
