Introduction:

Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences, is an offshoot of Bhagwan Mahaveer Memorial Trust(BMMT), Institute of Education. This Medical College is situated in Vikarabad, Telangana. In 1974 BMMT, Parent Trust, was formed and registered, with an objective of developing Medical Education and Health facilities. On 22nd July 2013, MIMS was founded. This is affiliated with KNR University of Health Sciences, Warangal.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category)

Admission to Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences is done either through All India Medical Counselling for management & NRI Quota or through Telangana State medical counselling conducted by state medical authorities.

Infrastructure

Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences is spread over 37 acres of land, which consists of Medical College building, Hostels for men and women, Staff Quarters, Guest House, General Hospital, Animal House, Play Ground, Canteen. The medical college builtup area is 80000 square metres.

This Medical College works from 8.00 A.M to 4.00 P.M on all working days, and also the General Hospital works round the clock with all emergency services.  Examination hall is 1030 Square metres with 750 seating capacity. This institute is keeping the peaceful situation in the campus by having an anti- Ragging committee. There are 4 Lecture Theaters available with seating capacity of 200 in one Lecture theatre and 180 capacity in other Lecture theatre.

Library:
Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences Central Library is working from 8.30 AM to 9.00 PM on all working days and holidays its working 8.30AM- 4.00PM. The Central library is air conditioned and well equipped with adequate Books, which is on the first floor. This has Indian & international Journals Periodicals, e-books and online facility with audio & visual aids Interactive Multimedia CD-ROM’s are available for the students, and Faculty.

It is built in 2400 square metres area with seating Capacity of 150 students. It has totally 5325 books and also Reference Books. Subscriptions to 28 Indian and 14 Foreign Journals are available. It is also provided with modern computer facilities, there are 40 computers available which are connected to Internet.

Facilities

Hostel: 
The Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences has been providing accommodation facilities for students and Staffs. This College has individual Hostels for both boys and girls and also it has Residential facilities for staffs. The rooms are kept clean and good ventilated with comfortable bedding arrangements. There are 74 rooms for UG boys Hostel with sharing of two and three. And 84 rooms for UG girls Hostel with two or three sharing. These hostels have providing accommodate for more than 350 Undergraduate students. Mess in this Hostel has been providing Hygienic and tasty food for students. There is a dining room with comfortable seating arrangements with good service. Good water and Power supply with all needed facilities are available here.

Sport and Recreation Facilities:
Mahavir Medical College is providing well-developed sports facilities to the students. This institute has grounds and equipment facilities for Indoor games like Table tennis, carrom, Chess and outdoor games like Cricket, Volleyball, Badminton and basketball. The college team participates in various tournaments and cultural events. This campus also has various equipment filled Gymnasium for the students to develop their health in both physically and mentally.

Affiliated Hospitals

Teaching Hospital of Mahavir Institute of Medical Sciences has been providing good Treatment to the rural area people. This is one of the reputed hospital in that area. The Casualty department of this Hospital is functioning round the clock on all days. There is a separate emergency section for OBG department, which is attached to the labour room.  This also connected with emergency O.T and well Equipped with anesthesia, Resuscitation, Doctors are available 24×7 and surgical equipment.

This Institute teaching hospital has Spacious OPD facilities and Health care for all kinds of People. The department for OPD are General Medicine, General Surgery, OBG, Dermatology, Paediatrics, Orthopaedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Psychiatry and Dentistry with all facilities. The General OPD is working from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM through Monday to Saturday.

Beds and other Facilities:
This Teaching Hospital has 350 beds for inpatient wards, these are distributed to the respected departments. Stretchers and Wheelchairs are available and also Lifts and ramps for the easy movement of patients. UPS and backup Generator availability, cater to emergency services and Pharmacy. The hospital provides free hygienic food and mineral drinking water supply to the inpatients.

Vikarabad Railway station can be reached from Mahavir Medical College in 15 minutes by travelling 5 kms through Mahaveer Hospital road. The nearest big city near this college is Hyderabad located 60 kms away.
