Introduction

Rajkot Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay Medical College started in June 1995 and is the fastest growing medical college in Gujarat with the aim of providing sub-special education in 15 branches of Medicine & Surgery. It is one of the best Medical Colleges in the state of Gujarat providing excellent facilities for medical teaching, residential accommodation, college campuses, academic and non-academic activities. MBBS Course

The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

PDU Medical College Rajkot offers Undergraduate MBBS Course with a total intake of 150 seats annually and the seats are divided as 85%  under State Govt Quota and balance 15% through All India Quota.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category)

Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

Admission to Government Medical College Rajkot is done  through 15% seats for All India Quota counselling and Remaining 85% allotted through state Quota seats.

Infrastructure

The college has 26 acres of land and quarterly facilities for staff and accommodation for boys and girls. There is still 50 acres of land on the campus of Saurashtra University for future expansion of the super specialty.

Library

The Medical College has a central Library with an area of 2403.33 sq. mtrs. It has a total Capacity for 300 Students and 30 Staffs. The library complex is mainly divided into two parts as the central library and the library reading room. The Central Library is located on the 4th floor of the Medical College Building. There are also reading rooms for students and teachers. The library is open from 9:00 am to 6:10 pm.

The ground-floor library reading room is available for students and staff for easy and quick access to the UG. & B.G. Students & Reading Room is open all day & 24 × 7, so students and staff can benefit greatly. Daily newspapers are also displayed on notice boards in this room. The Central Library currently has a total of 15458 books with 70 Indian and 30 foreign journals are coming in timely. There is also 40 Internet nodes available. Foreign journals are available online, with a total of 1100 different titles in the journal, yearbooks, reference-books, all different disciplines.

Examination and Lecture Theaters

SP D U Medical College offers seven lecture halls with well equipped, gallery type and air conditioning. In that, Five halls are capable of seating 190 students each which is used in Medical College. Another 2 halls are capable of 90 students each which is used in the Hospital. There is also 3 Examination halls and two auditoriums available in the College. Each of the three exam halls has enough chairs with desks / writing benches to accommodate 350 students each with a flat type and two students. There is an auditorium with 1500 capacity centralized air conditioning.

Hostel

The PDUMC Hostel has Ground + 9 additional floors for UG students accommodation which is having 376 rooms with 752 capacity, 50 rooms with 150 capacity for Interns, 252 room with 288 capacity for Residents and PG students and 62 rooms with 124 capacity for Nurses. Senior faculty members desire as UG and PG hostels wardens with the help of support for each hostel

The messing & canteen arrangement is available at the college. There is Common room available for boys and girls with attached toilets. Entire accommodation complexes ensure 24-hour security, maintenance, engineering, electricity and water supply. The hostel provides each student with a cot, a mattress, a study table, a chair and a drawer. All students have adequate dining facilities. The hostels have a gymnasium and indoor sports facilities.

Recreation Facilities

Students are highly encouraged in the field of sports and are equipped with all the necessary equipment to play football, cricket, throw ball, basketball and Volleyball. It has a separate playground for all games. The hostel also has an indoor stadium for shuttle, badminton and indoor games like table tennis, Carrom and Athletics.
Gymnasium is available in the hostel such as Multi jim, Cassels, Treadmill, Weight Abdominals and Hydrotherapy Pool. There is two gymnasiums with Ayurvedic Treatments available.

The Civil Hospital complex in Rajkot has the following hospitals with a total capacity of 750 beds with 21 medical and non-medical departments. There is a Laboratory, Radiology Department – Ultrasonography, Regular X-rays, CT Scan, Postpartum, Infertility, Physiotherapy, Surgery – Kidney, Pediatric, Plastic Surgery, Endoscopic Surgery facilities are available. District Disabled Rehabilitation Center – provides visual, ENT, orthopedics, mental health training for trainees and provides them with free equipment.

How to Reach

PT DDU Government Medical College Hospital is located in Rajkot city in the center of Saurashtra, Gujarat. Rajkot is the 35th largest metropolitan area in India, about 240 km from Gandhinagar.

The city has good connectivity with Gujarat and other parts of the country through the city’s main transport network, as the college is located 6.4 km from the city’s main bus terminal and is surrounded by public transport such as buses and taxis. The Rajkot Railway Junction is 2 km from the college and is a 10 minute walk. Rajkot domestic airport, which is about 2.5 km from college and takes about 10 minutes drive, while Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad is about 230 km and takes about 3 hours.
