The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship.
The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).
Chettinad Medical College offers MBBS Course has a total of 250 seats annually which are divided as 15% for NRI Quota and the remaining 85% for Management Quota.
Admission Procedure and Eligibility
Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category) to study Medical Course.
Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

Chettinad Medical College campus has spread over more than 33 acres of area and encompasses a community of students, researchers, and health professionals dedicated to improving the health of the larger community to which they belong. There are seven lecture halls are available in the college building with a capacity of 300 students in each. In Hospital building has 300 student lecture hall. Our lectures are well supported by practical experience in well-equipped laboratories. Each laboratory can accommodate over 90 students. Each laboratory has a demonstration room where students can receive instructions and lead discussions in small groups.
This College has well-equipped research labs in each department as well as the Central Research Lab. Each department also has seminar rooms for teacher seminars and magazine clubs. The most modern air-conditioned classrooms with multimedia devices make the lectures interesting. Thanks to LAN and the Internet available to all students, lecturers become more interactive.
CMCH library is built in an area of 4000 sqm and well stocked with over 20,310 books and more than 218 journals, of which 121 are international and 97 are national. The Library also subscribes to online journals. The digital library, with over 40 computers, high-speed internet access and audio-visual resources, is popular. Two reading rooms available separately in Inside and outside each with 250 seating capacity. Here separate staff rooms and PG students reading rooms are available. In addition to these facilities, the library is kept in barcode and also has reprographic facilities, which can take 14 pages/min.
The Chettinad Medical College Hostel and residential complex were built on an area of over 38,000 sqm on the university campus. There are separate hostels for men and women, the hostel for boys has over 830 rooms, and the hostel for women has 400 rooms, these are accommodation for 1000 students. These are comfortable single, double and triple rooms that offer accommodation. Spacious dining rooms serve nutritious dishes. The hostels are equipped with cable TV, telephone and study rooms with a computer and Internet access. A professional team of bodyguards ensures security.
There is a PG hostel with 82 rooms and separate residential facilities for nurses and interns with over 500 beds available. There are also residential facilities for teachers and non-teachers on this campus. Students are monitored by guards. full student safety is monitored and ratified by the Gender Harassment Committee and the Ragging Prevention Committee.
