MBBS Course

The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, child health, orthopedics, emergency medicine and various specialties. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India. Admission to the MBBS program is based on the candidate marks obtained in the NEET-UG rank held by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Aligarh offers in the medical stream at the undergraduate (UG) level and admits 150 students for the MBBS course annually.

Admission Procedure and Eligibility

Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. The maximum age limit to Study MBBS course is 25 years. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or bio-technology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for OBC Category)

Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.

The Admissions are based upon highly competitive premedical entrance examination of NEET which is conducted by NTA. This College is affiliated with  Aligarh Muslim (Central) University and admission in the Under-graduate & Post Graduate is done by the University.

The Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Aligarh consists of 25 Allied Medicine departments and it has attached with hospitals and in addition, 3 centres include such as R G Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology, Interdisciplinary Brain Research Center, and Center for Cardiology. JNMC Aligarh provides a good learning environment to the students and has a student support system which includes a well-stocked library with latest online journals and a healthcare, book bank, sports facilities, residential hostels, common rooms, canteen, conveyance for female students etc.

All the departments have adequate teaching faculty as per their statuary governing bodies as it has 240 qualified and experienced teachers. Each department has the latest types of equipment in laboratories, research labs, and separate libraries along with latest audio-visual teaching aids. There are five lecture theatres have a seating capacity of more than 150 students each, and two of them equipped with latest teaching aids have been converted into SMART Classrooms.


Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (AMU) Library is popularly known as Faculty of Medicine Library and its one of the best medical libraries of India, which comes into existence in the year 1962. The library is spread over in three floors with a rich collection of more than 55,000 books and bound journals in print form to pacify the needs of the users. The Journals subscribes about 100 International & National in various specialities, and also maintained its archived collection of old journals (bounded volumes) in printed form at the ground floor of the new building. JNMC Library also provides access to enormous databases like Science Direct, J-Gate, UGC Info-net, ERMED, Pub Med Central, Biomed Central, DOAJ and other open access resources.



Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College Aligarh has a Hall of Residence is a cluster of hostels and administered by a Provost and a number of a teacher as wardens, which it’s located centres of corporate life in the University. There are 19 Halls of Residence and one Non-Resident Students Centre (NRSC) out of 13 Halls for boys and 04 for Girls, and it’s truly representative of the country’s multi-religious, multi-racial and multi-lingual character. Each Hall of Residence maintains a Common Room with facilities as a common Reading Room, Library, indoor games, Sports Clubs and a Literary and Cultural Society.


AMU sports and games activities are organized under the patronage of University Games Committee which it’s consist of 15 main clubs & sub-clubs. The College University has separate fields for football, tennis, cricket, hockey, riding and athletics and Indoor facilities like table tennis, chess, billiards, badminton, carom, and swimming are also available for boys and girls students separately.

Besides its high academic standards, it also has a nursery of outstanding sportsmen and players, and it has maintained this interest and tradition with fervour. Moreover, it has Notable ones of the oldest Cricket club, Horse riding club, and AMU Drama Club.
