The MBBS course is a four and a half year period followed by a one year compulsory rotating residential internship. The lasting 12-month internship includes short courses in community health, medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, child health, orthopaedics, emergency medicine and various specialities. All these are according to the guidelines of the Medical Council of India.
Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences offers MBBS Course has a total of 150 seats annually which are divided as 50% for Management & NRI quota and the remaining 50% for Tamilnadu State Quota.
Admission Procedure and Eligibility
Eligibility: 17 years of age or above as on 31-Dec of the admission year. All Higher Secondary School Students with 10+2 in science stream including biology or biotechnology along with Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 50% marks are eligible(In case of OBC/SC/ST, 40% in board exams; 45% for PH Category) to study Medical Course.
Admission Procedure: It is compulsory for medical enthusiasts to appear for the National Eligibility and Entrance Examination (NEET) conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after 12th grade who wish to get MBBS admission. All the Government, Private, Central and Deemed Universities will be based on NEET scores and the seats for all colleges / institutions / universities will be offered through counselling based on the eligibility Score/Rank, Preferences of colleges and seats available.
Admission to Karpagam Medical College is done through State Medical Counselling as State Quota for 50 % of MBBS seats and remaining 50% filled through Management/NRI Quota.

Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences have two examination halls available with 500 sqmts area and 250 seating capacity in each. There are 16 numbers demonstration rooms are available, each with two to 8 faculties, equipped with fold-out chairs, main projector, slide projector, LCD display, and other audiovisual functions for at least 75 students. Demonstration rooms are available on all IPDs and on all totems. A dummy skill laboratory is available on-site to provide training and skills to resident and resident students.
The central laboratories are equipped with equipment such as a semi-automatic analyzer, hot air oven, incubators, water baths, ELISA reader and pad, calorie counter, flame photometer, laminar airflow, centrifuge, autoclave, microtome, tissue processor, VDRL rotator, analyzer urine, microscope, electrolyte analyzer, spectrometric photometer, PH meter.
Four fully air-conditioned gallery-type Lecture halls with a capacity for 180 students is available in college building and a hospital building with one air-conditioned gallery-type Lecture room with a capacity for 200 students. These Lecture halls have the necessary independent audiovisual resources, including a projector, slide projector, LCD projector, and a microphone. These classes should be divided by all departments on schedule. All lecture rooms are designed for E-class installations. There are Separate Common rooms are available for boys and girls students built up in an area of more than 325 sqmts and each with attached toilet and 150 seating capacity.
Karpagam Medical College has a Fully air-conditioned central library with an area of 3200 sqm with a capacity for up to 300 students to read, good lighting, ventilation, storage, book and magazine exhibition. There are 2408 books in several departmental libraries and seminar rooms. Inside Central Library, there is a room for 150 students and outside for 150 students. It has a total of 11,000 books and 4,020 reference books. The library continually subscribes to about 114 issues of magazines, of which 30 are foreign. A reading room for 30 people is also available. Librarians and other staff rooms, log rooms, copy rooms, audiovisual rooms, air-conditioned computer rooms with 40 computers connected to Internet are available.
The KFMS&R Undergraduate hostel has 285 rooms with totally 570 accommodation facilities. This Medical Faculty has over 85 rooms at PG Hostel and 50 at Interns Hostel, Nurses hostel available with 40 rooms. These hostels offer over 1000 accommodations for students and doctors in training. Separate quarters for teachers and non-teaching staff on this campus. Canteen services are available at Campus. Separate Visitor rooms and study rooms available with computers and internet facilities. Recreation rooms are available with Television, Music and indoor games facilities and the hostel has 24-hour security.
Outdoor and indoor facilities such as volleyball, badminton, handball, football and cricket, and indoor facilities such as table tennis, starfish, chess, etc. Gyms are available.
The Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital is equipped with a Central Clinical Laboratory with sections of Pathology, Hematology, Microbiology and Clinical Biochemistry, equipped with all high-tech devices to meet the laboratory diagnostic requirements of various clinical and clinical departments. The hospital has 9 state-of-the-art operating rooms and 2 smaller operating rooms, with the high-class devices needed for anesthesia and vital signs monitoring, such as the C-arm, capnograph multipara monitors, pulse oximeter breathing gas monitors, Defibrillators, ventilators, infusion pumps, and syringe. All operating rooms are equipped with central oxygen, nitrous oxide, and suction device.
Intensive care units in cardiology, medicine, neonatology, paediatrics, and 5-bed surgery for each available for the treatment of needy patients. In all intensive care units, there are primary devices that provide rescue and monitoring devices such as multi parameter monitors, ventilators, arterial blood gas monitors, pulse oximeters, spirometer, UGI endoscope, heat radiators, phototherapy devices, and incubators. The Karpagam Faculty of Medical Sciences and Research Hospital is located in the city of Coimbatore, in Tamilnadu State. It is a major city in the state of Tamil Nadu and is located on the banks of the Noyyal River and is surrounded by Western Ghats.
