• The Government Medical College Srikakulam was established in 2008 and inaugurated by the then late Chief Minister Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhar Reddy.
• This was formerly known as the Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences.

• RIMS Medical college’s Hostel and residential complex was built in 14,600 sq.mt in inside the college campus.
• This complex has separate hostel facilities for both boys and girls students.

Girls hostel also has 110 rooms with the facilities as the previous hostel.
These Hostels have good Canteen facilities with hygienic foods and comfortable dining rooms.
It has separated PG hostel with 32 rooms and separated Nurses and interns hostels are available.
This campus also has teaching and non-teaching staff residential facilities.
Students are monitored by the hostel wardens.
Complete safety of the students is monitored and ratification by the Gender Harassment committee and Anti Ragging Committee.
Separated Air-conditioned visitor rooms and air-conditioned study rooms with computer and internet facilities are available.
Rajiv Gandhi Medical College Provides a separated recreation room with Television, Music and indoor games for both boys and girls hostel.
Here Indoor Games are available with all sorts of stuff.

• Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences’ college Teaching Hospital is the General Government Hospital.
• This Hospital has 532 beds and it is built up in 48,800 sq.mt with comprises of 13 blocks including OPT block.

Approximately more than 700 outpatients are visiting here daily and 80 % of the beds are occupied by the inpatients care.
These beds are divided for the respective medical departments.
General medicine and General Surgery has 120 beds in each.
Pediatrics with 60 beds, orthopedics has 64 beds, Obstetrics and Gynaecology with 93 beds and TB and respiratory medicines have 30 beds.
The central clinical laboratory of this hospital is control under the Pathology department and also separate section like Microbiology, Hematology, and Biochemistry departments are available.
This Hospital has 10 Operation theatres those are 8 Major and 2 minor.
These theatres are divided for the General Surgery, orthopedics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology departments to 2 theatres in each.
ENT, Ophthalmology, Emergency, and Septic departments have 1 theatre in each.
Intensive care units like ICCU have 7 beds, ICU with 16 beds, SICU and NICU/PICU each with 8 beds are available.
These units are fully air-conditioned and Central Oxygen Supply, Monitor, Ventilator and Pulse Oximeter facilities are available.Rural Health Training Centres : RHTC – Srikurmam located 12 km from the college.
Urban Health Training Centres : UHTC – Gujarathipets located 03 km from the college.
